Impressionist magic in mini masterpieces inspired by Claude Monet.

June 2024, our Summer Art Factory kicked off with not just one—but two volumes of Monet-inspired camps! Across four vibrant days, budding artists from preschool through 7th grade stepped into the colorful, light-filled world of Claude Monet, exploring his love of nature, water, and expressive brushwork through hands-on projects tailored to each age group.

Here’s a look back at all the creativity that bloomed:

Volume 1: Waterlilies & Wonder (2-Day Camp)
Our first camp focused on Monet’s iconic garden scenes—particularly his dreamy lily ponds. Artists explored texture, layering, and balance through:

  • Clay Water Lily Sculptures: Young hands shaped and glazed beautiful floating blooms, learning about form and dimension.

  • Water Lily Mobiles: Inspired by the serenity of Giverny, students created 3D mobiles that danced with lily pads, blossoms, and reflections.

  • Mixed Media Water Lily Paintings: Combining watercolor, pastel, and collage, students brought Monet’s ponds to life with movement and color.

Volume 2: Boats, Prints & Bold Color (2-Day Camp)
The second session celebrated Monet’s love for outdoor scenes and ever-changing light. Projects pushed into bolder textures, printmaking, and experimentation:

  • Styrofoam Monoprint Sailboats: Each artist carved and printed their own sailing scenes, learning about reverse imagery and layering inks.

  • Impasto Landscapes: Using thick paint and palette knives, students created textured garden or meadow scenes that captured Monet’s signature brushstrokes.

  • Gelli Plate Nature Prints: Leaves, flowers, and organic textures became the focus as students pulled beautiful ghost prints on vibrant paper.

From the tiniest preschoolers to the confident middle school creatives, every student brought their own spark to the studio. It was a week of artistic growth, joyful messes, and masterpieces we’ll never forget!
